Abstract
This work aims to present the main contributions to the topic of dynamic capabilities (DC) by a bibliometric review approach. This study systematically reviews papers on dynamic capabilities extracted from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection, using bibliometric indicators. Given that this database is often considered the most relevant for scientific research. The study presents the analysis of the data from publications on dynamic capabilities and considers the leading top 50 papers, authors, institutions, countries, journals, and their evolution during the period from 1992 to 2018. The study graphically maps the bibliographic material by using VOS viewer software to provide a deeper analysis of data obtained from the search. As findings, this study found that the most cited document is << Dynamic capabilities and strategic management >> published by Teece and was the most prominent author. The USA was the most productive and influential country among dynamic capabilities publications, and in terms of the temporal evolution of the countries, it is the also the most productive in all the years reviewed, placed always in the first place. Copenhagen Business School is the most productive institution in all the years. This study has Research limitations/implications, since it used WoS as its only database; however, in future research, the results can be expanded using other databases. The content analysis found that dynamic capabilities research is growing exponentially. The results of this work may be useful for researchers and students that want to deepen the study of DC, and this may be the first bibliometric analysis in the research topic of DC.
