PATENTSCOPE
It is a cultivation mesh screen for mitylidae aquaculture (mussels) or other bivalve molluscs, which can be used in protected and non-protected marine areas. The framework configuration of the sleeves units improves growth and productive yield per area of the cultivation zone. Bivalnet can be used in a controlled submersible flotation culture system, which minimizes negative effects on production in non-protected areas and increases productivity compared to the traditional long-line system.
Uses
Mussel cultivation in protected or non-protected coastal areas or in zones with high waves.
Benefits
It enable to maximize the yield per unit area of the aquaculture zone.
Increases production yields by 1.9 times per line, compared to the traditional long-line system.
It reduces maintenance costs by 20%
It reduces fattening times for mytilidae by five months
It reduces mollusc dislodgments since the design of the net prevents entanglement of independent sleeves.
Its design allows cultivation in non-protected coastal areas with high waves, where there is less contact with toxins that can be acquired by molluscs compared to the long-line methods currently used.
Technological Offer
Technology is available for licensing.
Development status
TRL 7, since it has a large-scale prototype with industrial tests validated in a real-operational environment, well integrated with other systems.
