PATENTSCOPE
A device designed for switching high-speed optical signals in optical fiber networks with direct coupling to multi-core fibers. It includes a Beam Splitter (BS) module that splits the input signals into multiple modes, coupled to a stage with optoelectronic devices. These devices modulate the optical phase in each mode to manipulate the optical interference effect in a second BS, allowing the output port of the signal to be switched and determined in a controlled manner.
Uses
It can be used by companies that provide telecommunication services based on optical fibers at national and international levels, companies that offer telecommunication services, and public institutions such as the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications.
Benefits
High switching speed within single-mode fibers and even with multicore fibers (MCF), operating three times faster than other commercial devices.
Capability to integrate directly with commercial MCF fibers, benefiting customers and users who would have access to faster and more secure transmission of information compared to current devices focused on electromechanics.
Direct optical switching does not require reading or writing of the information to be switched.
Non-invasive technology that protects information without saving any record of what has been switched.
Technological Offer
Technology is available for licensing.
Development status
TRL 4, since there are component validations and their disposition in a laboratory environment.
